The Riese Muller Multicharger GT is a premium electric bike that excels in power, speed, and versatility. Although the price is higher than many other electric bikes on the market, the bike offers advanced features and a premium design suitable for various purposes.

While the Multicharger GT delivers excellent performance on paved roads and light off-road trails, it is not suitable for extremely rough terrain. If you’re looking for a bike to tackle heavy mountain trails, then the Supercharger or Superdelite would be a better option. Note that these are not longtails.

Riese Muller is a renowned brand in the bicycle industry, known for its quality and durability. The GT model has undergone various safety and performance tests.

Premium E-bike

The Riese Muller Multicharger GT is a premium electric bike available in various configurations and prices, depending on the selected options and accessories. Overall, the price of the bike is higher than that of many other electric bikes on the market.

The Multicharger GT features a powerful Bosch motor that provides additional support while cycling. The support can be adjusted to the cyclist’s preference and can make cycling much easier.

Powerful Bosch Motor and Battery

The Riese Muller Multicharger GT is equipped with a powerful Bosch Performance Line CX motor capable of reaching a maximum speed of 25 km/h and delivering a torque of up to 85 Nm. The bike also has a powerful battery (625 wh powertube Bosch) providing a range of up to 90 km, depending on usage conditions. The battery and motor power have been tested to ensure reliable and consistent performance.

Beautiful Sporty Design

You can see it right away; a sleek and modern design that not only looks stylish but is also practical for daily use. The bike has a sturdy frame and is available in various colors.

The Multicharger GT features a robust and durable aluminum frame, providing a rigid and stable riding experience. The total weight of the bike ranges between 30 and 32 kg, depending on the chosen configuration.

If you have bad luck or ride with an empty battery, cycling becomes very difficult. So, be sure to pay attention to your battery before hitting the road. You can charge the battery on the bike or remove it to charge separately.

Longtail Bike with Cargo, or Up to Two Children

The cargo rack of the Multicharger GT is a unique feature. It is very robust and offers a lot of flexibility for transporting various types of loads. The rack is approximately 65 cm long and provides space for up to two child seats, allowing parents to easily transport their children while cycling.

There are also various loading options available for the rack, such as an optional rack extension, a universal frame adapter, and a Yepp Maxi Easyfit adapter for attaching child seats.

The carrying capacity of the cargo rack is approximately 60 kg, which means it is possible to transport very heavy loads, such as groceries or a large backpack. The rack also features convenient accessories, such as side supports and elastic bands, to keep loads in place and transport them securely.

For (Almost) Everyone

The Riese Muller Multicharger GT is available in various frame sizes, ranging from 46 cm to 60 cm. Additionally, there is a ‘Mixte’ model with a low step-through and a regular model for men, both available in the same frame sizes.

The ‘Mixte’ models are ideal for people who have difficulty mounting a standard bike or for those who prefer a lower frame. Overall, the Multicharger GT is suitable for individuals with a height ranging from approximately 1.65 m to 1.95 m, depending on the chosen frame size.

Choosing the right frame size is important for comfortable riding and to prevent injuries. For the best fit and riding comfort, it is advisable to test ride the bike and seek advice from an authorized dealer.

Of course, price also plays a role. Due to the high purchase price, Riese Muller bikes are often out of reach for some. Fortunately, there are always second-hand models available that you can buy with warranty nowadays.

High-Quality Components

The bike is equipped with high-quality hydraulic Magura disc brakes (4 piston), allowing you to come to a quick and safe stop. The brakes and other crucial components of the bike undergo rigorous testing procedures to ensure safety and functionality.

The Shimano chain and derailleur are also of top quality. Shifting gears is very smooth, although it is advisable not to shift while pushing hard. The 29-inch tires are wide and sturdy, providing comfortable and stable riding on any terrain.

Additionally, the Riese Muller Multicharger GT also offers an automatic hub gear system as an option, providing an even smoother and easier shifting experience. This is ideal for people who prefer to ride without paying too much attention to shifting. A belt drive also lasts longer than a chain and requires no maintenance.

Riding Comfort & Suspension

You sit comfortably sporty; the Multicharger GT is not a typical city bike. It’s a longtail mountain bike, and you can feel this in the riding comfort. The suspension on the bike is good, although it doesn’t have full suspension like the Superdelite or Homage.

The front fork is equipped with a Suntour XCR32 air suspension with 100 mm travel, providing a smooth ride even on rough terrains such as forest trails or fields. The suspension can also be adjusted to your preference and the terrain you’re riding on. This is especially useful when riding on a bumpy trail and needing extra damping.

The saddle also has integrated suspension, further enhancing comfort. The suspension absorbs shocks and vibrations, preventing discomfort in your back or buttocks during long rides.

The combination of the front fork and saddle makes the Multicharger GT one of the most comfortable electric bikes on the market. Whether you’re cycling through the city or riding on rough terrain, you’ll notice that the suspension significantly increases riding comfort.

Fully Tested Multicharger GT

The Multicharger GT is an impressive e-bike that steers easily and is agile. With its powerful motor, no hill is too steep, and with the good battery life, you can ride for kilometers on end. On the highest (Turbo) setting, the bike lasts about 35 km.

The display and controls are user-friendly, allowing you to quickly and easily adjust various settings. Remarkable are the various sensors that respond perfectly to your pedaling. It’s no surprise that this bike is considered one of the best longtail bikes.

The riding comfort of the Multicharger GT is of a high standard. The saddle (with suspension) is comfortable, and the suspension in the front fork and seat post provide a smooth ride, even on rough surfaces.

The Multicharger GT feels luxurious and high-quality, making it an investment that is definitely worth its money. It’s clear that this bike is designed with the needs of the demanding cyclist in mind and will certainly impress both recreational and professional riders.

After our 100-kilometer test:

  • Even longer rides of +25 km remain comfortable
  • Cycling faster than 26 km/h is difficult and strenuous (on flat roads)
  • Uphill, you can almost always reach 25 km/h
  • Downhill, our top speed was 57 km/h, the handlebars remained firm and stable
  • Without hands, the handlebars begin to lose stability at around 45 km/h
  • With a lot of cargo (an adult person), you can cycle uphill thanks to the CX
  • The brakes are really top quality, you can hear the pistons
  • With a derailleur, it’s best not to shift when cycling at full power
  • The standard lights are powerful and visible from a distance. However, I still use additional lighting.
  • It’s truly a rugged electric bike.
  • Can handle any type of terrain: fields, mud, forest trails, cobblestones, speed bumps
  • 32 kg still feels heavy
  • Cycling without electric assistance is difficult

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Although the Riese Muller Multicharger GT is an excellent electric bike, there are also some drawbacks to consider:

  • Weight: Weighing between 30 kg and 32 kg, the Multicharger GT is relatively heavy. This can be a disadvantage for riders who frequently need to lift their bike or when cycling without electric assistance.
  • Cost: The Multicharger GT is a high-quality electric bike and therefore comes with a relatively high price tag. For some consumers, this may be a barrier to purchasing the bike.

Our Opinion on the Multicharger

The Riese & Müller Multicharger is an impressive electric bike suitable for people looking for a high-quality bike with plenty of power and riding comfort. If you want to tackle forest trails and field roads (with two children onboard), then this bike is the best choice. Riese & Muller equals quality. This is evident in the UBN Five, the city bike, but also in the Multitinker, the Multicharger’s little brother or sister.

The bike is equipped with a powerful Bosch motor and features premium components. The riding comfort is very high. The slanted kickstand (since 2021 standard double stand, this is no longer a problem) can sometimes be a bit tricky during loading. The suspension in the saddle and front fork provides extra comfort while riding.

What truly sets the Multicharger GT apart is the cargo rack, a longtail bike. It’s large enough to carry multiple child seats and also offers other loading options and accessories, such as a shopping bag. The high carrying capacity of 175 kg (including rider and bike) is a nice feature.

In summary, the Multicharger GT is ideal for people who travel long distances daily, transport a lot of cargo, or travel with children. It’s a premium bike suitable for both urban and rural environments. And various purposes such as commuting, grocery shopping, and recreational cycling.
