Revolution in reflective cycling equipment

From reflectors to vests, gloves, helmets and reflective stickers

Long story short, we went in search of inexpensive reflectors for the front and rear wheels. Our rugged Riese & Muller Multicharger suddenly looked much duller. Somewhere along the line, we understand why manufacturers leave them out.

Fortunately, there are brands that have been thinking about this for a while. The Belgian Wowow and GoFluo , for example, hats off, provide an excellent way to make reflection cool and significantly increase visibility. Also, Ridr seems like a cool brand, offering lights and reflective stickers.

Reflectors are legally required and increase your visibility from the sides, which is why we went today in search of the different types of reflectors for the (e)-bike.

Reflective Vests

Reflective vests are very popular because they make cyclists visible. They not only make the bike visible but also clearly indicate that there is a driver or person riding or walking.

The visibility of these vests depends on their reflection certification, an important factor to consider when choosing the right vest.

Remember, there is indeed a difference between fluorescent vests and reflective vests. Fluorescent is useful and visible during the day but less so at night, which is why you have reflective lines on your vest. If you buy from Wowow, this is guaranteed to be in order.

Black reflective stickers for the bike

Reflective Stickers and Tape

Reflective stickers and tape are increasingly being used on electric bikes or cargo bikes. They are an excellent addition to your bike to significantly increase your visibility. You can choose between stickers of objects and icons, something you have designed and printed, or patterns and lines to cover your bike.

Some people don’t want to cover their bike because it sometimes doesn’t look nice. For these people, we recommend black reflective stickers. During the day, these are hardly visible on a black bike, but at night, they increase the visibility of the bike.

There are also brands that sell sticker packages specifically designed to follow the standard sizes of a bicycle frame. This way, you know immediately that with this package, you have enough to easily and pleasantly cover an entire bike. This is less do-it-yourself work than buying tape separately.

Reflective Backpack Covers

Reflective backpack covers are an excellent additional option if you often ride with a backpack on the bike and your vest is not clearly visible from the back. They are especially handy for children with large school bags.

Reflective Helmet

Reflective helmets are less common than fluorescent helmets in orange or yellow, but there are options available. These helmets are not entirely reflective but have some reflective elements.

An alternative is to buy a regular black helmet and stick some reflective stickers on it.
