At the recent Velofollies fair in Kortrijk Expo, Specter Bike, an innovative Belgian brand specializing in speed pedelecs, caught the attention. With their progressive designs and technologies, Specter is taking a new step in the world of high-tech electric bikes. For the first time on a bike, a radar that maps the traffic behind you.

A revamped Specter 1 for 2024

The highlight of Specter Bike at Velofollies was undoubtedly the Specter 1, their first model showcased in two variants.

The first variant, the full option, is equipped with a dual battery and both a front wheel motor and a mid-drive motor. Dual-wheel drive, quite unique in the current market. Because of this, and the extremely light carbon frame, the Specter is one of the fastest, if not the fastest, speed pedelec.

The second variant is the base model, which comes without the extra battery and only has a front wheel motor. Both models showcase Specter’s unique design, which is focused not only on performance but also on aesthetics.

Innovation and Technology

Specter Bike has clearly focused on innovation and technology. Their speed pedelecs are equipped with advanced features such as automatic hub gears, a powerful motor, and an integrated display that not only shows speed information but also provides navigation and music via Spotify.

The Specter speed pedelecs are connected to 4G for this purpose. As far as we understand, you get a free subscription for the first year. After that, you will need to pay for this 4G SIM card on a monthly basis, at a relatively low cost.

New feature in the world of electric bikes

New at Velofollies was the radar that indicates whether cars are approaching behind the cyclist. A new innovative safety feature. This is still in development, currently only visible on the separate handlebar displayed.

Future Developments for Specter in 2024

During Velofollies, the Specter Bike team also discussed future developments. And although nothing is certain yet, they plan to further enhance the comfort of the Specter 1. For this purpose, the Specter 1 does not need to be modified, only equipped with a saddle suspension and additional adjustment options in the handlebars.

These adjustments will make the bike even more accessible to a wider audience while still maintaining their design for true speed enthusiasts.

Specter Bike demonstrated at Velofollies that they are a significant player in the world of speed pedelecs. With their focus on innovation, technology, and design, they are setting new standards in the industry.

The Specter 1 is a clear example of what the future of electric bikes could look like. We look forward to the further developments of this Belgian speed pedelec brand and how they will continue to innovate the market. For now, no new models are planned for 2024.
