Founded in 1908 by Max Brose, Brose is now a global company with approximately 25,000 employees. He opened a small trading company for car accessories in Berlin, Germany, from 1908 until the beginning of World War I.
At the end of the war, Max Metallwerk Max Brose & Company was established in Coburg. In the 1950s, the company became the largest manufacturer in Coburg. Subsequently, Brose’s grandson made it the 4th largest private automotive supplier in the world.
In 2010, Brose decided to apply the high-quality standards of their automotive segment to e-bike motors. In 2014, Brose began production of their first drive system. Today, nearly 50 e-bike manufacturers worldwide rely on Brose e-bike systems.
Brose Electric Motors
Like many other brands, Brose focuses on 4 different segments. The four different Brose drive units each cater to their own type of user. All four drives are high-quality, quiet, and have minimal vibrations.
They are available with two housing options, aluminum and magnesium. The main difference is that magnesium is lighter and eBikes with the TF drive provide an additional 120% maximum support. Most bike brands opt for magnesium due to the benefits.
Drive C – Urban Champion
The Brose Drive C drives are considered the urban lifestyle choice. This drive is used for commuting, especially on flat roads. All Brose motors weigh the same. For now, they have not yet released a light electric motor.

Drive T – Long-Distance Runners
If you enjoy taking the long way home, you need some extra power to get there. The Brose Drive T is efficient and designed for long distances. The T-drive also makes those shorter rides easier, especially those with steep hills, thanks to its maximum torque of 70 Nm.

Drive TF โ Sprinters
The Brose Drive TF supports riders up to a top speed of 45 km/h, used in speed pedelecs. The additional maximum support with the magnesium housing not only helps with the pace but also with the overall distance. This motor is comparable to the Bosch performance speed line.

Those who enjoy cargo bikes or the more sporty eBikes will love the Bose Drive S. With 410% maximum support, this drive brings the most power. The Flex Power Mode support level with the magnesium version of the drive adds even more excitement to the ride. This motor is also featured in the overview of the most powerful e-motors.
